In preparation of another Republican debate, one where Donald Trump and Ben Carson are, respectively, the two front runners, I thought I’d post this article by REPUBLICAN David Brooks.
I think like Brooks. Like him, I gravitate toward classical conservatism. One where balanced thinking is central. And, like Brooks, I’m disgusted by the “with us or against us” crisis mentality of so many in today’s Republican party.
More and more I enjoy hanging-out with progressives. They’re nicer. They’re usually better informed.
Brooks says it best, “Over the past 30 years, or at least since Rush Limbaugh came on the scene, the Republican rhetorical tone has grown ever more bombastic, hyperbolic and imbalanced. Public figures are prisoners of their own prose styles, and Republicans from Newt Gingrich through Ben Carson have become addicted to a crisis mentality.”
What are your thoughts, Republicans? And yours, Democrats?
